Back home

After a long and unpleasant journey, spending 2 hours waiting on the tarmac while the plane electrics were repaired, we finally arrived at Joburg airport.

The temperature's in the 20s, so warmer than the foggy drizzley Gatwick we left.  The jacarandas are in full bloom but unfortunately the rainy season has started early this year so lots of the glorious petals are already carpeting the streets and pavements.  It's also pretty cloudy.  Roll on summer!!
One good thing is that we don't have to have the fans on at night at the moment, so we can hear all the birds and animals in the neighbourhood.  Love it!

It took several days to unpack and make the house feel like mine again.  The worst thing was that Chris has [obviously during a brainstorm] decided to leave the door open of the drinks fridge in the lounge.  For 2 weeks water had been dripping onto the beautiful cherrywood floor and settling beneath our PNG wooden shelves.   In the event, it wasn't too bad, it just took 4 days to dry the floor out enough to replace the furniture and by Saturday the house was looking like home again.

First of all I had several baths, a mani/pedi and reflexology!  I spent time catching up with friends from Dancing and French.

It wasn't all sweetness and light, though.  It did feel very strange to be back, although I'd been really looking forward to it.  By Friday I had developed my first migraine for 6 years - a real corker!  I missed a couple of social things on Friday and still wasn't recovered enough to go to a Halloween party on Saturday.

Chris has settled back into work and today has gone cycling in the Nature Reserve.  He'll be home soon and we'll go out for breakfast, so things are getting back to normal.
